Lost Spaces: The Crystal Palace
The impact of the Great Exhibition of 1951 and the Crystal Palace on the United Kingdom is undeniable. Its ripples still presents itself until today in the V&A Museum, Imperial College and much more. So, why does it seem so unheard of today? Even Crystal Palace locals doesn't know why the area is named it.
I created a Stereographic Guide to Crystal Palace Park. It includes 20 stereographs in chronological order, depicting the site’s important historical events. It is meant to illustrate how the Crystal Palace was born, regarded and treated as time passes by. I wanted to create this device for others to be able to learn about the truth of the place, not the fantasy - while providing them with imagery to help them truly experience it throughout the years.
